The report champions reducing complexity in federal programs, faster assistance, and cost savings.  It also pushes the need to continue to empower state and local emergency managers.  While the report has been sent to the President, implementing actual change will take time. Understating the council’s key recommendations now will allow us to influence changes that ensure all emergency management programs in our state are able to meet the needs of those that we serve, before, during and after any disaster.
